Best Service Around. Broom Hilda's on Slaterville Rd closed 6 years ago and should not be confused with the service on Danby Rd.

PLEASE do yourself a favor and believe the bad reviews. when the cleaners came, as far as i could tell, the only thing they did was scrub the kitchen sink and one bathtub. they were supposed to fully clean the fridge and cabinets and didn't touch them. and then they charged me a fortune! when i told the owner that they didn't clean the fridge and cabinets and that the price should be lower, she said, oh, it's still that amount because the rest of the house was so dusty. SCAM!!!
on top of that, an item was stolen from my home.
the worst!!!! Stay away!
WORST SERVICE - WHAT A HORROR. I am an out of state owner of a house in Ithaca and the owner of Broom Hilda's was aware of this. I was trying to sell the house. There was one renter in it. The real estate agent kept telling me the house was dirty. I spoke to the resident, to no avail; so I hired Broom Hilda's and paid a good price for services. 3 times and I was still having a problem. I thought the real estate agent was just being overly critical because she couldn't seem to get the house sold. I went up there and happened to be present when the cleaning crew was there - to their surprise. They were standing around smoking. The windows that I had paid to have done 2 weeks prior were dirty and had cobwebs. When I mentioned this, the worker made a disparaging remark about the "other" crew that handles that. The floor in the kitchen was sticky, even after the woman supposedly cleaned it. As were the counter tops. She made a comment that she did not have the proper cleaning compound to clean it so that was that. I called the owner and got a response the next day that I should have said something. WHAT? ARE YOU KIDDING ME? No I'm sorry, I'll make sure they come back and do the job properly. Nothing. I went to KMART and bought cleaning supplys and did it myself. I DO NOT recommend them.
Owner needs a course or two in Customer Service. Many times your first impressions will dictate if you want to work with a person or not, I should have went with my gut instinct and looked elsewhere! When I was first called to set up an appointment this women spoke to me in a very derogatory manner, I figured that she was mad at her boss and was having a bad day! Turns out-she was the business owner and she was rough around the edges to say the least. When asked for a quote she snapped at me and insisted that my boss knows what to expect as he has used her business in the past. A woman of her caliber (a business owner conducting business with another business owner in a close knit community) shouldn't have been so downright rude right off the bat. I did as I was directed and set up the appointment with her. When I received the second phone call from her she again did not make the phone call a pleasant one to take. Not just a little bit rude, allot rude. She was very harsh with her words and acted as if I was a complete waste of her time. Very hard to conduct business with someone when you want to slam the phone in their face. After the work was complete (a so so job that I could have hired my own teenage child to complete had I known it was so simple). The job, seemed to take no time at all altho the owner acted as if they needed an entire day. The kicker is when we receive a bill for a jaw dropping amount. I had my very own employees want to open up a business of their own to rake in the dough! They thought to themselves- WOW! With a razor blade, Family Dollar ammonia, paper towels and a bucket of water and we can be rich! I feel the hours logged was ballooned- This is no way to conduct business in a small community where people rely on one another for referrals. The owner in my opinion, needs a class in Customer Service and perhaps they will teach her how to speak to prospective customers, and possibly even tell her to change her business message! That right off the bat is a bit jarring and should be used as a warning to STEER CLEAR & continue your search elsewhere. MY Reference Note: NOT AVAILABLE FOR RE-HIRE!
Won't use again: ridiculously expensive. While the quality of the work is OK, the owner is rough and rude and unprofessional when dealing with clients and the price is beyond ridiculous (really--three times that of other firms). Sadly, the owner started out with a good idea years ago and now just wants to gouge people locally who don't know what a housecleaner or window washer should make. Me thinks she is laughing at Ithaca all the way to the bank. My husband did not ask for a quote up front and he nearly fainted when I told him what the final bill was.
DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY. WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY. I'm a mother of four (all under the age of 15!) so wanted to give myself a break after the holiday chaos. Well the cleaning girls from Broom Hilda's arrived late, left early, and I wound up cleaning the whole house anyhow because they did such a lousy job. Seriously folks just spend the money and get a QUALITY service. Owner is unfriendly too.
Great service and staff. Great group of people to work with, did what I asked, worked quickly and did a fantastic job! This company has been in the area for a long time so you know they will be there when you need them. Glad I found them!
Broom Hilda's service and staff are the BEST.
They made my old house and contents SPARKLE. In these "different" times, it's nice to find a company that not only provides a needed service but that also really cares. I found the staff were people who I felt safe with when they were working in my home.
I am very satisfied. I highly recommend Broom Hilda to all my friends, who generally are as elderly as I am.
outstanding!. I have used this service many times and have always been very happy with the results. The cleaners are always friendly and very professional. The prices are reasonable and I would recommend any one looking for a cleaning company to use them!
