Best date place in town.
Want to impress? This is the place. Off the beaten path, cozy atmosphere and creative cusine that will give you a lot to talk about. The dishes change every season, but the seafood apps my wife and I have had there were exceptional. We've twice tried a promising stuffed artichoke dish and twice been underwhelmed. Specials have always been just as good as the waiter's made them out to be. They have a wood-oven, so most of the roast, baked or broiled dishes are superb.
Due to the fresh, organic concept, I'd recommend going in the summer or fall. We went this winter and it was a bit too hearty and wintery for our taste (lots of exotic grains and root veggies). While I appreciate the effort, I appreciate the food more...
hidden secret.
The secret is out, Ithaca! Though tricky to find, the knowledgeable staff can talk you in by phone! Spend a swanky night at the red bar, celebrate over white table cloth in the dining room, or a romantic table for two in the wine den. If the weather suits, you can eat in the courtyard surrounded by ivy and an organic herb garden.
The food is a refreshing alternative to restaurants in Ithaca. But, the best is to come when you hear the specials from the staff. The staff was welcoming and super accomodating. We were a party that started off as six, then changed to ten and ended up as five. The staff was responsive and helpful with these chages as we updated by phone.
Dessert was devine! Everything on each dessert plate was hand made at the restaurant. All in all we had an evening to dream about!
Best kept secret in Ithaca. This place is not to be missed on a trip to the Fingerlakes, although it's not easy to find. But once there, the food was so fresh and imaginative, seasoned just right and beautifully presented. We liked that we could order different sizes and split them with each other. Our waitress was charming and knowledgeable. We left feeling really satisfied and will go back again and again.
Wonderful experience. The creativity and quality of the food was comparable to any swanky meal in New York, San Francisco or Rome, but the price was much lower. The staff was charming and very accomodating. Dining in the courtyard was a treat.
Still hungry AFTER dinner....... We were very disappointed with our recent visit . We had really tiny portions at a price much higher than deserving. Dessert was laughable for $8 each. We had to stop for takeout on the way home. We will not be returning.
