truly a dive. Even though my friend lived next door to this place, after the first visit, we refused to ever go back - it was that bad. The place was dirty (as were the glasses our drinks were served in), the service was awful and the food was extremely bland. If you are a non-smoker, avoid this place as dining there is like dining inside a smoke stack.

The Last Great Diner. Although I don't live in Ithaca anymore, I can recall the many times I visited the State Diner. I love the decor, it feels like you've stepped back in time. The breakfasts are really super good, and their coffee is to die for - not gourmet, but good. I also love the fact that you can still smoke in there! For non-smokers I'm sure it's a turnoff (although there is a non-smoking section) but after a long day at work, there was nothing like stopping in there for coffee, dessert and a cigarette. I forgot to get me a Tshirt before I left!!
