Gentle, caring, professional dental care

I've been going here for three years, and I have always been pleased with the level of professionalism, courtesy, and care. I have a small mouth and previous (male) dentists (with large hands) have made dentistry very uncomfortable. Dr. Gupta is gentle and has small hands, so dentistry is no longer painful for me at all. When you need a local anastetic before a filling, she will make sure to do the filling while the painkiller is in full effect. Other dentists I have had would go work on someone else, and by the time they got back to work on me, the painkiller would be almost gone. Not Dr Gupta. She pays attention to her patients and does her best to make sure the visit is comfortable.

Another great thing is that she isn't involved in orthodontics. That means if you have bad teeth like me, but can't afford orthodontic work, she won't constantly harass you or make you feel bad about your teeth (unlike someone who is making most of their money off braces). My first visit, I explained I couldn't afford braces, and ever since she has made helpful suggestions for me to have the healthiest teeth I can until I can get them straightened.

In summary, I highly recommend Dr Gupta and Cayuga Family Dental. It is the most painfree, guilt free dentistry I have ever experienced.

Bad for those who have little money!

Part of my filling fell out. I called this place and scheduled an appointment. Mind you I told them I was not in any pain but my tongue was scraping the hole in my tooth so it was irritating me. The morning of my appointment I was called to reschedule for the following day because my insurace (MEDICAID) paperwork had not yet been faxed. Once I got in, the Dentist looked at my tooth and said "sorry I can't help you today come back. Your filling has to be redone." Meanwhile I got notification from Medicaid that my coverage would be terminating because I now make to much money and would be with family health plus instead. Family Health Plus has no dental coverage. I went to my second appointment the next day and they took xrays, cleaned my teeth and said that I needed a comprehensive exam to make a treatment plan. This would not be covered because insurance won't pay for two exams. could I pay $60 out of pocket. "Must be I was the first patient with Medicaid this dental office has seen." I said ok but had to pay it in two installments. When I was done I had to make my third appointment for my crumbling filling to finally get done. 3 business days later I returned and finally had my filling worked on. They scheduled me for yet another visit to care for another cavity the following week. That day I contacted Medicaid to find out when exactly insurance would be ending. They told me as of Nov. 1, two days after my next appointment, I would have nothing. I called the dentist and relayed this information and told them that I would have to pace any additional work after my next appointment because I would have to pay cash so I would need to save. The next thing I know I get a message saying they are canceling my appointment because they have not yet been paid by medicaid. "What? Its only been a week since my first visit." So if you have lots of $ to throw at this place I am sure that you and your teeth will be treated fine. For those of you with medicaid watch out!
