Has some great deals at the Antique Mall
by Lucala
I've bought about 10 items at the Ithaca Antique Mall. I usually go for the not-so-expensive, but still good wood stuff. Like I got a pretty run-down but gorgeous rocking chair for under $100. Yesterday I got an oak and pine desk and two chairs total $140. You can also spend a fortune, but you don't have to at this place. There is a wide range.
- Pros: Some terrific bargains
- Cons: You have to shop smart there
Most selection of Antiques for miles around!

I enjoy spending time at the Ithaca Antique Center (also called Ithaca Antique Mall). It is housed in a huge, pretty old building that is quite attractive itself. Inside, there are two floors of antiques (yes, there is an elevator!), and things are arranged very nicely. It's fun to walk around and check out the huge selection! It's a multi-dealer store, so as you walk by the different booths, you can tell the personality of each dealer. Some booths are very proper & very antique, some are Retro/Danish Modern, some are funky/eclectic, some are all jewelry, some all tools, some all vintage clothes, etc. It's fun to poke around, I nearly always find some bargain item that I think was underpriced. I also furnished most of my house here - because there is so much choice it is like a department store, but the prices are better (cheaper) and the furniture is all real wood (No particle board!). There are expensive antiques, too, - I hear Whoopie Goldberg used to shop here a lot, before she got on The View. (Darn, never when I was there.) Unlike some other multi-dealer malls, The Ithaca Antique Center is staffed by friendly, helpful, knowledgable people and it is clean & well organized. A great place to spend a happy hour or two : ) (Note: they also have two pretty bathrooms, decorated with antiques!) The Ithaca Antique Mall is a scenic, short drive from Ithaca, also it's on The Fingerlakes WIne Trail and near The Museum of the Earth.
- Pros: Lots of choice of antiques, friendly people, long hours to shop, free parking
- Cons: none, or maybe too much to see?
